Priory Bay Hotel - Grounds The amazing diversity of grounds at Priory Bay are a magical haven for wildlife attracting rare birds of prey, owls, red squirrels, and colourful dragonflies. Woodlands stretch down to the beach, making the 70-acre estate a unique habitat for both land and sea birds all year round.
The lawns and terraced gardens were designed by the famous doyenne of landscape design, Gertrude Jekyll, and Queen Victoria is reputed to have sat beneath the magnificent magnolias growing on the south wall of the hotel.
The Isle of Wight is the UK’s most southerly island, making it one of the UK’s earliest producers of fruit, vegetables, and flowers that range from the tropical to the sublime.
The tranquil gardens at Priory Bay are now overseen by Italian gardener, Freddy. Explore the estate and you will see that Freddy tends to everything from beautiful roses to rare orchids. He is also responsible for the delicious home-grown ceps, herbs and garlic that are harvested direct from our grounds and created into mouth-watering dishes served in our award-winning restaurant. |
